The idea for The Palette Edit began with a personal frustration: being told conflicting things about what colors “should” work.

Like many of my clients, I spent years experimenting with makeup, clothing, and traditional color analysis systems that never felt entirely accurate. Some recommendations felt too harsh, others too muted, and many foundation and makeup shades seemed slightly disconnected from my natural coloring. Even professional analyses often produced conflicting results.

At the same time, I'd always been deeply drawn to color through art. Long before creating The Palette Edit, I spent years studying color through painting, colored pencil work, and digital art—becoming fascinated by how subtle shifts in hue, depth, warmth, and contrast could completely transform the way a face appeared. That fascination eventually evolved into a deeper exploration of complexion, undertones, overtones, contrast, and personal color harmony.

Professionally, I built a successful career outside the beauty industry, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in strategic marketing, and working in communications, advertising, and director-level roles within high-tech, broadband, and energy industries. Those years sharpened my understanding of systems, strategy, technology, and user experience—all of which would later influence the development of The Palette Edit.

Having traveled extensively — and observed beauty culture across many countries — one thing stood out consistently, particularly here in the U.S.: women are absolutely bombarded with makeup brands, formulas, and shade choices. The sheer volume is overwhelming, and it rarely comes with real guidance. I wanted to change that. I wanted to make it easy — genuinely easy — for women to find their ideal shades without the frustration, without the wasted money, and without the guesswork.

By combining artistic training, color theory, structured analysis, and modern technology, I developed a more nuanced and individualized approach to personal color evaluation—one designed to move beyond  seasonal stereotypes and focus instead on the layered complexity of real human coloring.
